CWA Helps With Repairs to Red River Take-Out

On Sunday, May 6th, four members from CWA ( Humberto Garcia, Larry Brammer, Megan Staats and Patrick Rivers) joined David M. Wilhelms  and two other members (Dick (complete with bagpipes) and Stimie??)  from the Red Rivers Paddlers, Inc. to help with repairs to the Red River take out.  The day was spent removing most of the old decaying timber and replacing them with new timber. With all the help a lot was accomplished in a short period of time. This take out is owned by the Red River Paddlers, Inc. and is a great alternative to the traditional take –out at Ziemers. The take out is about ½-1 mile or more further down the river on river left. Look for a wooden paddle nailed high up in a tree and slightly sandy area. The parking area will accommodate about 8 cars and there is a 2 sided soon to be 3 sided shed / changing area.  From the road continue on Butternut past the Ziemer’s takeout. Butternut will turn to the right and the next road is called Kathryn. Take a right on Kathryn and then another quick right on Finley. You will see the parking area on your left just a short way on Finley. If you use this take out please consider sending a small donation to the Red River Paddlers, Inc. for the upkeep and improvements to the take-out.  The address is Red River Paddlers, Inc., Attn: David Wilhelms, Treasurer, P.O. Box 324, Shawano, WI 54166. Please let David and the Red River Paddlers know how much you appreciate having a safer and more private take out area for the boaters.
